How to move your Pink Pad data between iPhones/iPads

When you get a new device, the preferred method from Apple, and developers like is, is to setup your new device using an iTunes or iCloud backup of your old device and not choose the "set up as a new phone" option. This will move all of your apps, data, photos, messages and even many of your usernames and passwords. If that is not available to you, we have a couple of other options available.

Always verify your data has transferred before deleting any old apps or wiping any old devices.

1. Open the PinkPad app on your original device, then tap "More" in the bottom-right corner.

2. Then under App Info, choose "Backups and Sync" then "Backup and Restore"

3. From here you have two options:

Option 1: iCloud backup

This is the default method, and the one you were prompted to use when you downloaded the app, so it may already be on. This option automatically saves the data to your Apple account, for easy retrieval on other devices.

1. If not on, turn on "iCloud Sync" at the top of the Backup and Restore screen

2. Backup should occur automatically, and most recent backup shown on this screen under "Last Sync."

3. Change the backup name to "Old phone" for ease in finding it later, and tap "Sync Now"

4. Make sure your new device is using the same Apple iCloud account. See your phone's settings menu for this information.

5. Install PinkPad Pro (from the App Store) on the new device.

6. Complete the initial app setup steps

7. Tap "More" in the bottom-right corner.

8. Then under App Info, choose "Backups and Sync" then "Backup and Restore"

9. Make sure iCloud Sync is also on, on this device.

10. Tap the "List all Backups" button, then choose the file named "Old Phone" and choose the option to "Restore from Backup"

11. After you see "Restore Complete" go back to the calendar and verify your data transferred.

12. If so, you may want to go back to the backup settings and rename your backup file, and once again hit "Sync Now"

Option 2: Manual backup

This is the optional method, and allows you to manually backup your data to email or other cloud service. This method will not backup your data automatically, so you will have to remember to do steps 1-3 periodically on your device.

1. If on, turn off "iCloud Sync" at the top of the Backup and Restore screen

2. Tap "Backup Now"

3. Choose how you want your backup file saved. You can send it to Email, Dropbox, or other cloud service. It will ask for a destination each time you backup.

 4. On your new device, access your email or storage service where you saved the backup.

5. Open the email or file, "select all" of the text in it, and then choose "Copy"

6. If not already, install PinkPad Pro (from the App Store) on the new device.

7. Complete the initial app setup steps

8. Tap "More" in the bottom-right corner. Then under App Info, choose "Backups and Sync" then "Backup and Restore"

9. Make sure iCloud Sync is also off, on this device.

10. Tap the "Restore From Manual Backup" button, then tap in the white box twice until "Paste" option appears, then choose "Paste" and then press "Restore Now"

11. After you see "Restore Complete" go back to the calendar and verify your data transferred.
